Description
Calima was originally built in 1970 in samanguila wood (African mahogany) strip planking at the renowned Carabela-Nick Kenyeres boatyard near Barcelona on the same Olin Stephen lines used by Nautor’s to produce the highly successful Swan 43.
Commissioned by the heir of a powerful banking family, she was a distinguished participant in many national and international regattas of the 70s and 75s.
Her current owner, an expert yachtsman, gave new life to this beautiful vessel in 2000 by combining the genius of her S&S lines with the latest in composite technology.
Reborn, lightened and with a substantially enlarged sail-plan custom designed by Alan Gilbert, Calima made a stunning comeback in the IRC-2 class and placing 6th overall at the 2001 Fastnet.
Constantly upgraded since with the most recent equipment and no lack of creative comforts for her double duty as fast cruiser. Calima has continued to collect silverware to this very day.
She is, in sum, a truly exceptional vessel, maintained to a very good standard and faultlessly equipped.
