Description
BRUMA It is a unique piece, built with the best materials of the era, with a well-conceived and well-executed design. It has survived to the present day in 90% original condition, with not a single plank of the hull replaced, including its original masts, furniture, woodwork, etc., as well as several functional elements such as tanks, steering system, and electrical installations. Throughout its history and through changes of ownership, some elements have been replaced and others added. The most recent major upgrade was the engine replacement.
Argentina in the 1940s, despite the political tensions of the time, experienced a period of relative economic prosperity towards the end of the decade. This context fostered the growth of numerous shipyards located along the banks of the Paraná Delta, driven primarily by small and medium-sized industrialists.
Eduardo Grimaldi, the shipowner, businessman, and local entrepreneur, commissioned the design of the “BRUMA YCA” in 1947. The design is clearly inspired by a Nordic Motor Fish Vessel: Mr. Grimaldi didn't commission a yacht with sleek, stylish lines, but rather a safe, robust, comfortable, and capable vessel that combined sailing with a good marine engine for navigating upriver, as well as the ability to adjust its draft, thus maintaining its righting capacity and ensuring safe sailing.
It has always been a family vessel, meaning for the use and enjoyment of family and friends, on calm and peaceful voyages.
Another positive aspect is that it has always had a crew on board, who, to the best of their knowledge, have carried out the boat's maintenance tasks.
It has adapted to the new developments and needs of daily life; for example, the energy demand on board is nothing like it was 30 years ago, nor is it today, and the voltage and frequency between Argentina and Europe are also very different.

Accommodations
notes
The “BRUMA YCA” boasts a purely British layout: the crew's quarters are located forward, behind the chain locker, with access from the deck and an escape door to the starboard forward cabin.
Beyond this are two double cabins with very spacious bunk beds, a large bathroom, and the galley. Stairs lead to the saloon, the common area for family and guests. Towards the stern, there are stairs to the port deck and others to starboard leading down to the owner's quarters, which consist of a cabin spanning the beam with two beds along one side and a full bathroom.
Beyond the bathroom bulkhead is a quarantine station accessible only from the deck.
Stepping inside is like stepping back in time to the late 1940s, to an era of splendor, without being excessive. The materials used are understated yet of high quality. On these boats, where maintenance is carried out on demand, the different modifications are evident, as the original woods have been replaced in some places with non-native materials: we find pieces of samanguila, for example, which originates from Africa. Nevertheless, the saloon retains its original and welcoming condition.
The aft cabin maintains its original layout. On purely British boats, a large bed was never provided; instead, each spouse enjoyed their rest in their own comfortable individual bed. The double bed was gradually introduced on boats in the 1970s, primarily motorboats.
The bathroom retains an original Blake toilet, all made of porcelain, brass, and chrome-plated steel.
The bow area comprises two double cabins, one on each side with the headboard facing aft. Both feature similar furnishings and a white enamel finish throughout, and portholes that provide some airflow when the boat is at anchor. These cabins share a comfortable, fully equipped bathroom.
Overall, the interiors show their age, despite the effort put into their upkeep, but they are nonetheless welcoming and well-proportioned.

rigging notes
As for the rigging, it's a Bermuda cutter ketch, with two Douglas fir masts built in the traditional style: the main mast and the mizzen mast.
The fore-and-aft sails consist of a staysail with a boom and a furling jib. 3
It's a very well-balanced rig with a low center of effort, since it's a centerboard (variable keel), and its righting moment varies depending on the keel's position.

Deck
equipment notes
The deck is well-sized, with very wide walkways and comfortable to walk on. It has all been renovated with teak planks over the original petiribi wood, which, after repeated caulking, no longer provided a watertight seal. Structurally, it has a sturdy bulwark. There is no visible movement or cracking in the paintwork in the chainplate area.
The deck has well-defined areas: the bow with the impressive windlass for secure anchoring, storage space for the dinghy, as well as a sunbathing area, and aft, the helm station and a lovely table for enjoying the outdoors.
The boat has two comfortable grand staircases, one on each side.
The helm station is protected by a rigid awning, and from there, the entire boat is clearly visible.
